Fort St. John to rally to end violence against women

first_imgA report by the Peace Project, an initiative to reduce violence against women and children in the community, found that there were nearly 500 cases of domestic violence in Fort St. John in 2011/2012, which is comparable to Prince George, which is 2.7 times its size. The annual event will begin at 8 p.m. at the North Peace Cultural Centre, after the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society’s annual general meeting. Participants are encouraged to bring posters and noisemakers to take with them on their walk around the city. In the past, women from the community have shared their experiences at different points along the march. The event is not only for women; men are welcome – and urged – to come and share their support for the women in their community.- Advertisement –last_img read more
