Using the API is simplicity itself. You don’t even need a key and it supports JSONP callbacks, allowing you to access it even within completely browser-based applications. To demonstrate how to use it I’ve put up some PHP sample code on github, but the short version is you call to http://feeds.delicious.com/v2/json/urlinfo/data?hash= with the MD5 hash of the URL appended, and you get back a JSON string containing the tags. If you want to see how accurate it is, here’s a live version of the code you can play with. Growing Phone Scams: 5 Tips To Avoid There are many reasons to love delicious and hope that it survives its current rocky patch, but as a programmer there’s one thing I’ve found it essential for. I often write applications that need to process and organize thousands or millions of Web pages. To do that, I need to know something about their meaning, what topics they’re associated with, if they’re blogs, political, technical, commercial, and what other categories they fall into. One way is run an API like Zemanta or OpenCalais on the pages’ text, and hope to use significant terms to pick categories. This is an extremely intensive process on large collections, and even the best semantic analysis is nowhere near as good as a human summary. What if you could get millions of people to categorize the pages for you, for free? That’s exactly what delicious’s urlinfo API gives you. It returns the top 10 tags for any URL, together with a count of how many times each tag has been used. Tags:#hack#How To pete warden Related Posts 7 Types of Video that will Make a Massive Impac… You can then use these tags to enrich your own application with a spooky level of intelligence about websites. You could restrict searches to particular categories or industries for example, in a similar way to Blekko’s slashtags, or organize referrer analytics by what kind of site the links are coming from. For most sites the top 10 tags for most sites are both very informative, and highly accurate, so you can get some very effective results. WILMINGTON, MA — Longtime Wilmington School Committee member Peggy Kane has resigned. The announcement was made at the end of last night’s School Committee meeting, when Chair Julie Broussard read a letter from Kane, who was not present at the meeting.“Due to recent events in my life, I find it necessary to relinquish my position on the Wilmington School Committee effective June 13, 2018,” wrote Kane. “My time on the School Committee has been truly gratifying. I enjoyed being part of the education of Wilmington’s children. Thank you.”Kane was the School Committee’s stalwart, serving for nearly 18 years, including as Chair from 2007 to 2016. The Massachusetts Association of School Committees previously honored Kane with its “All-State School Committee” award for her dedication and accomplishments as a member of the Committee.Kane had previously announced she would not seek re-election when her current term expired in April 2019.School Committee Chair Julie Broussard told her colleagues she will speak with Town Clerk Sharon George regarding the procedure to fill the unexpected vacancy.According to School Committee policy — based on Massachusetts General Law (Title 7, Chapter 41, Section 11) — the remaining six members of the School Committee and the five members of the Board of Selectmen share the responsibility for finding Kane’s replacement. The policy reads:“The School Committee will notify the Selectmen that a vacancy has been created within 30 days after it has occurred. After one week’s notice has been given by the Committee to the Selectmen, so that voters of the town may have the opportunity to state their candidacy, the two governing bodies will meet to fill the vacancy by roll call vote.”“For election to fill a vacancy, a candidate must receive a majority of the votes of the officers entitled to vote. The person so elected will fill the seat on the Committee until the next town election, at which time a member will be elected to serve the remainder of the term.”It is expected that the Selectmen and School Committee will hold a joint meeting within the next 4-5 weeks to fill the vacancy. There will be 9-10 months remaining in Kane’s unexpired term when the appointment is made.Back in 2005, when the Selectmen and School Committee met under similar circumstances to fill a vacancy on the School Committee, it did not go smoothly.Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook. Share Charlie RiedelChurch members gather to pray around flood victim Carlos Ochoa during Sunday service in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, in Humble, Texas. The church building was flooded with two feet of water from Hurricane Harvey prompting services to be held in the parking lot for about 2,000 people.Authorities went door-to-door Sunday in parts of storm-battered Houston, warning that more flooding was coming, while a nearby city that lost its drinking water system struggled to restore service and officials kept watch on a crippled chemical plant that’s already triggered explosions.Nine days after Harvey ripped its way across Texas, areas of west Houston braced for more water — not from the storm but from controlled releases to relieve swollen reservoirs. Crews were urging residents whose homes had already taken on water to flee, and that they were shutting off power in some areas.“If you have water in your homes, I have issued a mandatory evacuation for them because it’s dangerous for those who are choosing to live there,” Mayor Sylvester Turner told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”“But also, it’s very, very dangerous for our public responders, first responders, who are needing to be out there, trying to provide protection to them,” he added.Meanwhile, officials in Beaumont, population almost 120,000, worked to repair their water treatment plant, which failed after the swollen Neches River inundated the main intake system and backup pumps halted. The Army Corps of Engineers sent pumps, and an ExxonMobil team built and installed a temporary intake pipe to try to refill a city reservoir. Exxon has a refinery and chemical plants in Beaumont. In Crosby, outside of Houston, authorities continued to monitor the Arkema plant where three trailers of highly unstable compounds ignited in recent days, sending up thick black smoke and tall flames. A Harris County fire marshal spokeswoman said there were no active fires at the facility, but six more trailers were being watched.Elsewhere, people buried the dead and took steps toward recovery. Friends and family gathered Saturday in Tyler to remember a former high school football and track coach whose body was found Aug. 28.Harvey is blamed for at least 44 deaths. Fire officials in the community of New Waverly, about 55 miles (88.5 kilometers) north of Houston, said a 6-month-old was missing and presumed dead after being ripped out of its parents’ arms and swept away by floodwaters, the Houston Chronicle reported.Houston’s school district said up to 12,000 students would be sent to different schools because of flood-damaged buildings. Harvey flooding is believed to have damaged at least 156,000 dwellings in Harris County, which includes the nation’s fourth-largest city.Kim Martinez, 28, waited for insurance adjusters to come to her Southbelt/Ellington neighborhood, a devastated middle-class area of southeast Houston.“You can be prepared for anything but not a monster storm like Harvey,” said her mother, Maria Martinez, 63.Not everyone was able to think about rebuilding yet.About 200 people waved signs and shouted as they rallied Saturday outside a still-flooded subdivision in the western suburb of Katy, demanding to know when they can return home. Turner has warned residents that their homes could remain flooded for up to 15 days because of ongoing releases of water from two reservoirs protecting downtown. About 4,700 dwellings are in the area affected by Turner’s evacuation order, but hundreds have refused to leave. The school district assessed its own losses. Twenty-two of its 245 schools had extensive damage that will keep them closed for months. Though school is set to start Sept. 11, more delays could come.President Donald Trump made his second visit to the devastated region Saturday. He and first lady Melania Trump met with evacuees sheltering at the NRG Center in Houston, where they spent time with children and helped to serve food. Later, they helped load trucks with relief supplies at a suburban church. They also visited Lake Charles, Louisiana, to survey damage.About 1,000 evacuees remained at the George R. Brown Convention Center, down from a peak of about 10,000.Trump has asked lawmakers for a $7.9 billion down payment toward Harvey relief and recovery efforts — a request expected to be swiftly approved by Congress, which returns to work Tuesday after its summer break. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has called that a simple “down payment” on recovery funding he expects to soar past $120 billion.Harvey came ashore Aug. 25 as a Category 4 hurricane, then went back out to sea and lingered for days off the coast as a tropical storm. The storm brought five straight days of rain totaling close to 52 inches (1.3 meters) in one location, the heaviest tropical downpour ever recorded in the continental U.S.Another storm churned far out over the Atlantic. Hurricane Irma was on a course that could bring it near the eastern Caribbean Sea by early this week. The Category 2 storm was moving northwest at nearly 13 mph (20 kph). No coastal watches or warnings were in effect.___Associated Press writers Jeff Amy and Johnny Clark in Beaumont, Texas; Frank Bajak, Jason Dearen, Elliot Spagat and Tamara Lush in Houston; Adam Kealoha Causey in Dallas; and Tammy Webber in Chicago contributed.

Explore further The physicists, David Gelbwaser-Klimovsky at Harvard University and coauthors, have published a paper on using energy quantization to improve the performance of heat machines in a recent issue of Physical Review Letters. In their work, the researchers compared the performance of classical and quantum heat machines, which convert heat into work. In the classical version, a compressible working substance (usually a gas) is required for operation. When the working substance is heated, it expands and drives the engine’s mechanical motion. In practice, it can be experimentally challenging to reach the large compression ratios needed for high performance. However, in the quantum version with quantized energy levels, the heat engine does not require a compressible working substance, but instead can function with incompressible working substances. So overall, when considering energy quantization in a heat engine, the classical paradigms break down and large compression ratios are no longer needed to obtain highly efficient heat engines. As the scientists demonstrated, the appropriate manipulation of energy levels leads to higher efficiencies and opens the doors to realizing heat machines that are classically inconceivable. The physicists also showed that, although energy quantization can improve heat engine efficiency, the efficiency is still subject to the Carnot limit—the fundamental limit on the efficiency of any heat engine. In addition, the performance improvement only occurs when the quantized energy levels are inhomogenously scaled, which is a regime that so far has received little attention. In the future, the researchers plan to further investigate this regime, as well as explore different kinds of working substances, such as those composed of interacting or indistinguishable particles. © 2018 Phys.org Physicists have demonstrated that energy quantization can improve the efficiency of a single-atom heat engine to exceed the performance of its classical counterpart. Energy quantization, in which the energy levels of a system occur only in discrete values, is a quintessential feature of quantum systems and differs from the continuous energy levels that occur in classical systems.
