It is put at 84 now that a stabbing victim has died from serious injuries after a fight around 2pm on Sunday.There is someone arrested in connection to the killing which happened in the Village Road area. WILMINGTON, MA — Longtime Wilmington School Committee member Peggy Kane has resigned.The announcement was made at the end of last night’s School Committee meeting, when Chair Julie Broussard read a letter from Kane, who was not present at the meeting.“Due to recent events in my life, I find it necessary to relinquish my position on the Wilmington School Committee effective June 13, 2018,” wrote Kane. “My time on the School Committee has been truly gratifying. I enjoyed being part of the education of Wilmington’s children. Thank you.”Kane was the School Committee’s stalwart, serving for nearly 18 years, including as Chair from 2007 to 2016. The Massachusetts Association of School Committees previously honored Kane with its “All-State School Committee” award for her dedication and accomplishments as a member of the Committee.Kane had previously announced she would not seek re-election when her current term expired in April 2019.School Committee Chair Julie Broussard told her colleagues she will speak with Town Clerk Sharon George regarding the procedure to fill the unexpected vacancy.According to School Committee policy — based on Massachusetts General Law (Title 7, Chapter 41, Section 11) — the remaining six members of the School Committee and the five members of the Board of Selectmen share the responsibility for finding Kane’s replacement.The policy reads:“The School Committee will notify the Selectmen that a vacancy has been created within 30 days after it has occurred. After one week’s notice has been given by the Committee to the Selectmen, so that voters of the town may have the opportunity to state their candidacy, the two governing bodies will meet to fill the vacancy by roll call vote.”“For election to fill a vacancy, a candidate must receive a majority of the votes of the officers entitled to vote. The person so elected will fill the seat on the Committee until the next town election, at which time a member will be elected to serve the remainder of the term.”It is expected that the Selectmen and School Committee will hold a joint meeting within the next 4-5 weeks to fill the vacancy. A man was killed while another injured when a pick-up van hit a rickshaw in Dakpara, Keraniganj in Dhaka on Wednesday night, reports UNB.The deceased is Shafiqul Islam, 52, son of Sohrab Hossain of West Rabishur.The accident took place around 11:45 pm when a pick-up van hit a rickshaw carrying Shafiqul and his wife Saima, leaving them injured, said Shaker Mohammad Zibaiyer, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station.Later, they were taken to Mitford Hospital where the doctors declared Shafiqul dead.

Explore further The physicists, David Gelbwaser-Klimovsky at Harvard University and coauthors, have published a paper on using energy quantization to improve the performance of heat machines in a recent issue of Physical Review Letters.In their work, the researchers compared the performance of classical and quantum heat machines, which convert heat into work. In the classical version, a compressible working substance (usually a gas) is required for operation. When the working substance is heated, it expands and drives the engine’s mechanical motion. In practice, it can be experimentally challenging to reach the large compression ratios needed for high performance. However, in the quantum version with quantized energy levels, the heat engine does not require a compressible working substance, but instead can function with incompressible working substances. So overall, when considering energy quantization in a heat engine, the classical paradigms break down and large compression ratios are no longer needed to obtain highly efficient heat engines. As the scientists demonstrated, the appropriate manipulation of energy levels leads to higher efficiencies and opens the doors to realizing heat machines that are classically inconceivable.The physicists also showed that, although energy quantization can improve heat engine efficiency, the efficiency is still subject to the Carnot limit—the fundamental limit on the efficiency of any heat engine. In addition, the performance improvement only occurs when the quantized energy levels are inhomogenously scaled, which is a regime that so far has received little attention. In the future, the researchers plan to further investigate this regime, as well as explore different kinds of working substances, such as those composed of interacting or indistinguishable particles. © 2018 Phys.org Physicists have demonstrated that energy quantization can improve the efficiency of a single-atom heat engine to exceed the performance of its classical counterpart. Energy quantization, in which the energy levels of a system occur only in discrete values, is a quintessential feature of quantum systems and differs from the continuous energy levels that occur in classical systems.
